Sarah Schreiber

  • LEND Occupational Therapy Trainee

Sarah is a third-year Doctor of Occupational Therapy student at the University of Pittsburgh. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science with a minor in Psychology from the University of Kentucky in 2022. During her undergraduate studies, Sarah pursued a variety of educational and volunteer experiences with pediatric populations, particularly children in vulnerable circumstances. As part of her coursework, she conducted and published a senior thesis examining the effects of exercise on cognitive abilities in 8th grade students at a diverse urban public school. She also volunteered with organizations such as Step by Step, GreenHouse 17, and DanceBlue, where she fundraised and worked directly with children facing challenges including pediatric cancer, poverty, and family violence.

In graduate school, Sarah has developed a growing interest in working with children with neurodevelopmental disorders. She recently completed a Level II fieldwork placement with Pittsburgh Public Schools, supporting preschool students—many with Autism diagnoses—in the Early Intervention Unit. In the upcoming academic year, she will complete her Doctoral Capstone at Jeremiah’s Place, where she will help design a sensory resource kit for staff, children, and families. Sarah is also honored to serve as a LEND trainee for the 2025–2026 academic year, where she looks forward to strengthening her leadership, knowledge, and advocacy skills in the field of neurodevelopmental disabilities.
