Jessica Price
- LEND Speech Language Pathology Trainee
Jessica Price is a dedicated advocate and emerging leader in the field of neurodevelopmental disabilities. Currently pursuing her Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Pittsburgh, she has gained extensive clinical experience across settings such as UPMC Rehabilitation Institute, UPMC Children’s Hospital, and the UPMC Center for Assistive Technology. Her passion for this work stems from her time as a paraprofessional, where she witnessed the daily inequalities faced by students with disabilities. Observing the communication challenges individuals face using Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices inspired her to work toward creating inclusive and accessible environments that embrace differences and improve quality of life.
Jessica is committed to cultural humility, recognizing her privilege, and continuously strives to learn from the lived experiences of her clients and their families. Her background in culturally and linguistically diverse assessment and treatment, combined with leadership roles in clinical and volunteer settings, has helped her develop trusting, person-centered relationships with clients and families. A pivotal moment in her career involved collaborating with professionals to support a student through a self-harming crisis, reinforcing her belief in the power of interprofessional teamwork. Jessica’s clinical interests, shaped by personal experiences such as advocating for her mother during a prolonged hospitalization, drive her commitment to family-centered care and interdisciplinary collaboration. As a LEND trainee, she is eager to continue growing as a clinician and leader, with a focus on providing culturally sensitive,
equitable care for individuals with neurodevelopmental disabilities.
