Amy Anderson

  • LEND Family Trainee

Amy Anderson is currently a Family Trainee with LEND Pittsburgh. She is the proud mother of two now-adult children who both happen to have disabilities. Her dynamic twenty-two-year-old daughter has multiple diagnoses, including Down Syndrome and postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (“POTS”). Her active nineteen-year-old son has multiple diagnoses, including nonverbal autism and a vision impairment.

Amy is also an attorney. She has been in private practice and has clerked for two Pennsylvania Superior Court Judges. Both personally and professionally, Amy has worked with several nonprofit disability organizations, including serving as Past President of the Down Syndrome Group of Western Pennsylvania and serving on the Board for the Down Syndrome Association of Pittsburgh.

Amy has significant experience with issues impacting individuals with disabilities and their families, and the complex service systems intended to help them. She is passionate about helping her children, as well as others with disabilities, live their lives to their greatest potential. While she has advocated for her own children and helped others on an individual basis, through LEND she hopes to forge a path that will allow her to incorporate her knowledge, experience, and passion to have a greater positive impact on the disability community.
